DESLOGE — A 30-year-old Doe Run man was arrested for having drugs on him when he went to the police station for questioning in an unrelated case. Desloge Police Chief James Bullock said Corporal Dustin Cash was questioning the man at 9:15 p.m. July 8 at the police station about a forgery case.
“During the interview Corporal Cash detected that the man was acting like he was under the influence of a controlled substance,” Bullock said. “Corporal Cash asked if he was under the influence. The suspect said that he was not.”
Cash asked the man to stand up. When he stood up the officer noticed the man had fresh needle marks on his arms.
“He asked the suspect for permission to search him,” Bullock said. “Permission was granted and a syringe loaded with a clear liquid was found. The suspect said he had forgotten he had it on him. He said the liquid was heroin.”
The man was arrested for forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
In an unrelated case on July 9, A 25-year-old Bellview man and a 33-year-old Bellview woman were arrested. The incident occurred at 5:15 p.m. when Cash observed a vehicle driving without a front license plate. He pulled the vehicle over.
“When he pulled the vehicle over Corporal Cash detected the odor of marijuana coming from the suspect’s vehicle,” Bullock said. “He discovered that the male driver had an outstanding warrant so he placed him under arrest.”
Bullock said Cash received consent to search the vehicle and requested assistance from Officer Cord Blumenstock and his K-9 Wyatt.
“Wyatt found a hidden compartment under the dashboard that had marijuana and a pipe in it,” Bullock said. “The female passenger also admitted to possessing marijuana and rolling papers.”
The male suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, driving with invalid plates and for having an outstanding warrant. The female suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and for having an outstanding warrant.
